Coins/Arras and Coin Holders
In an Hispanic wedding, the tradition of giving Coins or Arras represent the physical or financial element in a marriage, similar to a dowry. It symbolizes that the husband will provide for his wife and family. Sponsors bring the coins to the Groom and place them in his hands. Then the coins are passed from the Groom's hands into the Bride's hands symbolizing that he is trusting his wife to use the finances wisely for their home and family. It is also a sign of the blessings of God in their lives.
There are many kinds of coins that may be used. Some are small and others, large. Some have words on them expressing different sentiments called Unity Coins. Others have an image of the Virgin Mary or a Bride and Groom or double hearts on them. Gold coins were traditionally used, but Silver is also becoming popular. 13 coins/arras are used to represent Jesus Christ and the 12 Disciples.
We also offer many different holders to present and display the coins. Carriages, treasure chests and hearts are among the most popular. These lovely keepsake wedding coins/arras will always be a beautiful reminder of your wedding day.
