The HIGH HEEL SHOE Charm signifies the Quinceañera's transformation from a girl into a woman. During the ceremony, she wears flat shoes, signifying girlhood. Just before the Father/Daughter dance, the Quinceañera's father or father figure removes her flat shoes and replaces them with a pair of high heels. This is supposed to be the very first time she is allowed to wear high heels because she is now recognized as a woman, even by her father.
